Background: Customer Needs

K Superstore is an Asian grocery store in Michigan, USA. They sell Asian food and products. They wanted to upgrade their shopping carts to make it easier for their customers to shop. They looked at our website and picked out 100 pcs of Asian shopping carts that were the right size for their store. They also asked us to make some changes to the carts.

The key requirements included:

Branding:They wanted their store name, “K Superstore,” printed on the cart handles. They asked for the name to be in gold letters so it would stand out.
Function: They wanted all four wheels on the cart to swivel. This would make it easier to move the cart around the store.
Special Request: They asked for the carts to have a special coating to protect them from the salt and snow they use on the roads in Michigan during the winter.

Challenges: Meeting Complex Customization Requirements

During the consultation, we faced the following challenges:

Design: They wanted the logo on the cart handle to look good and be easy to read. We had to change the size and color of the letters a few times to get it right.
Function: At first, they wanted all four wheels on the cart to swivel. Later, they decided they also needed 20 pcs of traditional carts with fixed rear wheels for older people and heavy use.
Shipping and Customer Service: Some handles and carts got broken when they were shipped by ocean in a Less-than-Container Load (LCL). We had to send them new parts right away.

Solution: Comprehensive Customization and Superior Service

We solved these problems by doing the following:

Customized Design Support:

We changed the logo a few times until we got the right size and color of gold letters they wanted.
We put a special coating on the carts that would keep them from rusting in the winter.

We sent them carts with all four wheels swiveling so they could easily move them around in their store.
We also sent them some traditional carts with two fixed wheels in the back. These would be good for moving heavy things and for old people to use. We also sent them a smaller order from our warehouse in Chicago to save them money on shipping.

We checked every cart to make sure it was perfect before we shipped it. When some of them got broken during shipping, we sent them new parts right away. They were happy with our customer service.
We also helped them talk to the people who work at the port where the carts came in. They had a problem with a tax they had to pay. We helped them solve the problem so they could keep buying carts from us.
